I’ll be honest — I rolled my eyes the first time I saw someone post about AI meal planning. Felt like a tech bro answer to a human problem. But we were hemorrhaging money on groceries, constantly throwing out food, and ordering takeout three nights a week because nobody had planned anything. So my wife and I decided to just try it for a month.
The results genuinely surprised us.
That matters more than most people admit.
We went from around $1,200 a month — family of four, lots of impulse buys, lots of wilted produce in the back of the fridge — down to about $800. Less waste. Healthier meals. And somehow less decision fatigue around “what’s for dinner,” which was its own quiet relief.

Yes please share the prompts! We’re spending way too much on groceries and I know half of it goes in the trash. Family of 5 here so even small savings add up.
We did something similar but focused on batch cooking. AI generates recipes where you do one big cook on Sunday and have lunches for the whole week.
The ingredient overlap thing is so smart. Last week our AI plan used chicken in three different recipes — a stir fry, a soup, and tacos. One big package instead of three small ones.
