Fitness after 40 – what actually works?

Turned 42 last month and I feel it. Recovery takes forever, joints are cranky, and the “just lift heavy bro” advice from my 20s doesn’t work anymore.

What are you guys over 40 actually doing for fitness?

  1. 45 here. Biggest change: I prioritize mobility and recovery as much as the actual training. 10 minutes of stretching/mobility before every workout. And I dropped ego lifting completely.

    dont forget about protein. most guys our age arent eating enough protein for recovery. aim for at least 0.7g per pound of bodyweight
