Walking: the most underrated exercise

I know this isn't sexy or exciting but I want to shout out walking as actual exercise. Started walking 30 min every morning before work 2 months ago and the benefits have been crazy: lost 8 lbs, anxiety is noticeably lower, sleep is better, and my resting heart rate dropped 7 bpm.

If you're overwhelmed by the idea of a gym routine, just walk. Seriously. Its free, low injury risk, and it works.

Walking saved me honestly. When I was too depressed to do anything else I could still manage a walk around the block. That eventually became longer walks, which eventually led me to jogging, which eventually got me back in the gym.

But even now that I lift 4x/week I still walk every day. Its my mental health practice as much as physical.

10k steps daily is such a game changer. I got a standing desk and take walking meetings when I can. My Apple Watch says I average about 12k steps now and my body comp has changed without any intentional dieting. Zone 2 cardio is real.

Walk with your partner if you can. My wife and I do a 20 min walk after dinner every night and its become the best part of our day. Actually talk to each other without screens. Good for the body AND the relationship.
